I was shocked to find that I had a whole house filter under my house yesterday, when my water froze!!! This is year six in this home, and I had thought about getting one, and vetoed it because it would be so much work, and we were not even sure where the water came in to our house!
Problem solved! Lol.... In the process, I talked to the water owner of our subdivision, so I could get the right filter to replace the nasty, old one that was on there. Guess what? The well water we have, normally has high levels of Flouride (normal to find in deep wells), and also Barium (used in the drilling process most likely) and the health risks are quite interesting for these....
Flouride, causes bone spurs, and loss, and Barium causes high blood pressure, and heart problems, among other things.... Wow!!! So glad for this small frozen water problem we had, now I feel much better informed about water filtering, and purifying. Neither of these chemicals are able to be removed with my whole house filter. I looked in to reverse osmosis, but the drawback was it doesn't work with hard water >10, and I was happy to find this video, by a guy who has been researching, and using water filters for 10 years! I always thought I would be pretty safe drinking water from a well......
